Purchasing Card Processing
At Access Payment System we help businesses that typically focus on business to business (B to B) or business to government (B to G) transactions by providing Level 1, 2 and 3 Purchasing Card transaction abilities. To be more specific, we also provide Level 3 Line Item Purchasing Card processing, which is not common in the industry. Using an internet based system that does not require merchants to update software we can help merchants lower their interchange cost in Purchasing Card transactions and give them the Level 3 Line Item processing abilities.
The Interchange tables provided by Visa, MasterCard and Discover have specific rates that are typically labeled as Purchasing Card Level 1, 2 or 3 for Visa and Data Rate 1, 2 and 3 for MasterCard. Unfortunately, most merchants that primarily conduct business in the B to B or B to G world don't have the ability to process a line item Level 3 transaction and they simply pay more in transaction cost. Some will be able to process Level 3 Summary transactions but since it isn't a line item transaction the rates are still higher. The information and table below gives you an idea of the data associated with Level 1, 2 or 3 transactions.
“Level-1” card data is typically associated with consumer transactions and provides limited purchase data back to the card holder.
“Level-2” card data adds more information to benefit the corporate/government/industrial buyer. However, the number of fields is limited because of the restricted data capture capabilities provided by most hardware-based POS terminals and even most of the internet based virtual terminals.
“Level-3” line item detail, which is equivalent to the information found on an itemized invoice, requires greater system capability and is provided through the systems provided by Access Payment Systems.
